Ingredients
3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup milk
¼ cup unsalted butter melted
1 large egg
For the Filling
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
For the Cream Cheese Frosting
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Instructions
- Combine flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Set aside.
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk until it reaches around 110°F (43°C). Remove from heat and add melted butter and egg. Stir well.
- Gradually pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until the dough comes together.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
- Roll out the dough into a large rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
- Spread softened butter over the dough. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the butter.
- Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 12 equal-sized rolls.
- Cover the rolls in the greased baking dish with a kitchen towel. Allow them to rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Spread the cream cheese frosting generously over the warm rolls.
- Serve the cinnamon rolls warm and enjoy the delicious homemade bakery goodness!
